 We understand that many self employed people want to do their own bookkeeping, but that often they aren’t sure what to do, or how, and it becomes a time consuming job that is dreaded.
That’s why we have come up with our Accounting Review – a service that involves setting you up with a system that is easy to use and saves you time and stress, all for a fixed fee of £50.
There are three steps to an Accounting Review:
Step 1: consultation. We meet up to discuss the work that you do and how you currently keep track of your finances. What’s important is that we want to know what your thoughts are…do you like doing your bookkeeping but worry that you aren’t doing it properly? Is it taking up too much of your time? Do you constantly lose receipts or not know what to do with expenses that are incurred partly for business but partly for your personal use? These are the sorts of issues that we can help you with. By the end of the meeting you will know:

What income and expenditure to track

The different ways you might do this, such as on paper or using a computer spread sheet or accounting package |

What paperwork to keep and how to file it |
|
How to use financial information to help you in your plans for your business (do you know which of your lines is most profitable? Or what the profit is on the different products that you sell? If not, think how it might help you to have that information!) |
Step 2: system improvements. As a result of your review, we will almost certainly find that your systems could be improved (if they couldn’t you probably wouldn’t be considering a review in the first place!). So we set up whatever changes you would like, such as designing a personalised spread sheet or setting you up with a file to suit your needs in an accounting package (there are various excellent packages which are completely free to download and use, although if you decide to use some more advanced software, there would be at an extra charge to provide this or you could purchase it yourself).
Step 3: implementation. Once your system is set up, we support you as you get up and running with using it. Up to an hour’s support by telephone or email is included.
The Accounting Review is designed to help you with completing your own books and can be especially helpful if you also complete your own tax return. We won’t try to sell you any of our other services, although if you decide that you would like us to work for you again in the future we would of course be very happy to explore the other ways in which we can help you!
