 Shore Accounting and Business Services is based in Shoreham by Sea, working in the Sussex area and across the country, and is run by Chris and Ruth Anscombe.
Ruth set up the business; having been a manager for one of the Big Four banks, she decided on a change of direction after taking a break from her career to raise her family. She had always enjoyed meeting her customers and helping them take control of their finances so she decided to work as a bookkeeper offering her services to small businesses. Thus in 2003 Shore Accounting Services was born.
The business grew rapidly and soon Ruth was providing bookkeeping, payroll and self assessment services to clients throughout Sussex from many industries, such as legal services, construction and retail. She built her reputation around delivering excellent service, tailoring her work to meet her clients' needs, accuracy and reliability.
Away from Shore, Ruth has worked for a national charity and her roles have included training in counselling skills and teaching adults. So she decided to draw upon that experience and develop the training, coaching and mentoring arm of Shore.
 As part of these exciting developments, she changed the name to Shore Accounting and Business Services in 2010. In 2011, Chris left his own banking job to come on board full time and they now head an enthusiastic, energetic team who offer a wide range of business support services.
Ruth holds a First Class BSc (Hons) in Financial Services as well as the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers’ Level III Diplomas in Computerised Bookkeeping, Manual Bookkeeping, Self Assessment Tax Return Completion and Payroll Management. She manages the bookkeeping and accounting side of Shore.
Chris holds a BS (Hons) in Economics as well as the CII Diploma in Financial Planning and being a Full Member of The Association of Taxation Technicians. He heads up the tax compliance work that Shore does, as well as drawing on his experience as a sales coach and Regional Manager for one of large banks in providing coaching and management training.
Shore Accounting and Business Services is a member in practice of both the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and Association of Taxation Technicians. All of our staff are either qualified to do the work they carry out or are trainees who work under the direct supervision of suitably qualified manager.
